It’s almost ‘winter’ ! The weather is lovely and come Wednesday (every Wednesday for the foreseeable future) the nice people at the Park Inn – Al Khuwair have an amazing ‘Roast & Grill Buffet’ at their signature rooftop restaurant – Sama Terraza (Yep, rooftop! which translates to an excellent view of the city)
The buffet spread is quite impressive. They have a variety of individual salads and the Arabic Cold Mezze. I really enjoyed the Cajun Roast Beef salad (Yes! Roast Beef in a salad, you are welcome!)
Also, part of the spread is a soup of the day – Roasted Pumpkin Soup and a selection of breads.
You can choose to have your meat selections grilled live or if you are in a hurry, try out their previously grilled dishes on display. I prefer the live grill when available, even if it means that you have to wait a bit! (the wait gives me enough time to look at the desserts on display and decide my way forward!) I tried the Marinated Lamb Chops – well flavoured and absolutely succulent, marinated in local flavours like sumac & mint! I also tried the Marinated Salmon, which was also really nice ( so nice, that I may have taken the marination recipe to use on my salmon at home!)
The roast of the day was a lovely looking Hammour with Zaatar & Lime. (photos on my facebook page!)
Now, if you haven’t already stuffed your face – you can try the ‘mains’. I must admit that I nibbled on everything because I had my mind set on the dessert! On the menu for the night was Dill Rice, Herb Roasted Potatoes, Grilled Vegetables, Corn on the Cob, Beef Stew and my personal favourite – Roasted Chicken with Omani Dates and Olives.
Dessert is always the best part of my meal! ALWAYS !!! I tried the chocolate tart and loved it – took a second helping.
There were so many types of sweet treats on display. It was a fusion of international desserts – to cater to different tastes. (Individual dessert photos here!)
a.k.a dessert with a view!
As always, it was an informative session when Chef Ajay keeps you company. I like how he has managed to incorporate subtle flavours of Oman in most of the dishes being served, while still keeping the authenticity of the dish intact (like the date BBQ sauce in the chicken wings marination, for instance)

Please bear in mind that the menu is tweaked every Wednesday. Again, this is a limited time ‘Wednesday only‘ Dinner Buffet! It will continue for as long as the lovely weather keeps us company.
